THEY'RE coming home . . . again!

Ipswich Town's FA Cup heroes are returning to the club next month for a 25th anniversary dinner to celebrate the anniversary of the club's Wembley triumph.

The Evening Star has linked up with the club to promote the dinner which will give fans the chance to meet their heroes who brought the most famous silverware home to Ipswich.

And the cup itself will be on show during the dinner on May 6.

Sir Bobby Robson will be the guest speaker at the dinner, and he will be joined by nearly the entire victorious Town team.

Skipper Mick Mills will be joined by George Burley, Brian Talbot, Kevin Beattie, goalscorer Roger Osborne, John Wark, David Geddis and substitute Mick Lambert. Squad member Russell Osman is also hoping to join them - so is former assistant manager Cyril Lea.

Striker Paul Mariner has promised to fly in from his home in Arizona, and Paul Cooper has said he would like to come from his home in Tenerife if possible.

Allan Hunter is hoping to make the re-union - the only team member who has not replied so far is winger Clive Woods.

The reunion is being organised by Sir Bobby's former secretary Pat Godbold and Mike Noye and Terry Baxter from the club in association with The Evening Star.

"We're delighted so many of the 1978 team will be getting together again and meeting the fans who followed them to their finest moment," said Star brand manager Austen Dack.

"And we are very pleased that the FA Cup will be back in town again for the occasion.

As well as Sir Bobby's speech, there will also be a question and answer session with members of the team entered immortality with its one-nil victory over Arsenal.

It will be the second time the Star has re-united the 1978 team - five years ago we marked the 20th anniversary with the One Day in May special evening at the Corn Exchange which followed an open-top bus journey around the town.

Tickets for the glittering and unique event are currently on sale at £650 for a table of 10 or £65 each - however they're expected to sell very fast. The cost includes a three-course meal with a half bottle of wine per person.

Tickets can be ordered by calling Jemma Kebbell on 01473-400510.
