Police were called to hoax reports of a man with a gun in Ipswich this morning.
Suffolk Constabulary were called at around 9.30am with a claim a man had been seen with the weapon at an address in the Hening Avenue area.
When the controller began to ask questions the caller quickly hung up.
Officers attended and closed the road at the junction with the Ravenswood roundabout as police began enquiries.
However the road was re-opened at around 9.50am when nothing was found.
Suffolk police believe the original call was a hoax.
