A Suffolk school has turned itself around after its latest independent inspection said it had improved significantly.

Holbrook Academy headteacher Simon Letman said the school was thrilled after receiving official confirmation of its new Ofsted rating yesterday.

The school, placed in special measures two years ago before Dr Letman arrived, has risen to ‘good’ after being classified as ‘requires improvement’ at its previous inspection.

Strong leadership, a clear vision for the academy and pupils’ behaviour in lessons were all praised by the Ofsted inspectors who visited towards the end of October.

They also acknowledge how the “standards and achievement at Holbrook Academy have risen rapidly in recent years”.

Dr Letman said the improvement was down in part to the support of the whole community.

“We have fantastic kids and great staff,” he said. “They are absolutely delighted.

“We have taken on a completely new assessment system. Everyone has worked incredibly hard.

“Everyone was hoping for this outcome. People have really upped their game, the standards have been fantastic.”
