Lifesaving skills were taught to pupils at the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook today as part of Restart a Heart Day.
The Year 12 pupils were taught CPR and learnt what steps they could take to help save a life in an emergency.
Each pupil took part in a 40 minute session, which included a video produced by the British Heart Foundation as well as practical training delivered by the school’s health centre staff and five paramedics.
Sister Deborah Sweeney, school health centre nurse at the school and who helped organise the event, said: “I think it’s a really positive outcome to have so many of our pupils attend these sessions to give them the confidence and skills they might need to one day help save a life.”
Restart a Heart Day was launched by the Resuscitation Council (UK) along with the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
