A prisoner from Hollesley Bay has been charged with five offences including escaping lawful custody and dangerous driving following a police pursuit along the A12 yesterday.
Soloman Archer, 35, who appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, also faced charges of failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
Police were called at around 2.10pm yesterday, Thursday, September 7, to reports a Daihatsu Fourtrak had been stolen from the drive way of a house in Alderton Road, Hollesley.
Officers found the vehicle at around 2.30pm travelling southbound along the A12 near Woodbridge where it failed to stop.
Police pursued the vehicle onto Martlesham Health residential estate and along Eagle Way where it hit a police car before rejoining the A12.
The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop near to the Seven Hills interchange at Nacton.
Archer was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Archer appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court earlier today, Friday, September 8, where he was remanded into custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, October 6.
