Holywells Park comes alive with colour in Ipswich’s fifth Holi Festival celebration

More than 5,000 revellers helped add a splash of colour to Holywells Park on Sunday for the fifth annual Holi Festival of Colours.

The Hindu Spring Festival featured traditional Bollywood entertainment from the Kerala Cultural Association, live music from Saraswa Band of Ipswich, a bonfire, street food stalls and henna tattoo painting.

The afternoon then exploded in a celebration of colour with the traditional paint throwing which marks the return of bright colours to the environment.

Tejas Thakerar, co-chairman of the Ipswich and Suffolk Indian Association, said: “It’s been an absolutely brilliant success and we have had more than 5,000 people really enjoying the colour.
