Honour for Suffolk university supporter
REVEREND Canon Peter Mortimer MBE, chair of the Suffolk New College Corporation, is to receive an honorary fellowship of the University of East Anglia.
REVEREND Canon Peter Mortimer MBE, chair of the Suffolk New College Corporation, is to receive an honorary fellowship of the University of East Anglia.
He will receive the award in recognition of his contribution to the establishment of University Campus Suffolk and before that Suffolk College, an accredited college of UEA.
Canon Mortimer has been a member of the corporation since 1996, was vice chair between 2001 and 2004, and has been chair since 2004.
He was involved in establishing the public services course within the college and served for nearly 40 years in the Territorial Army and Cadet Forces, retiring in the rank of colonel.
He has also worked nationally and locally for the Prince's Trust and was a member of the Prince's Trust Council.
Canon Mortimer is ecumenical adviser to the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.

He will receive the award at a ceremony on November 1 at Trinity Park.
