HOPES are fading that a Suffolk fisherman swept into the sea by a strong wave will be found alive.
Police and coastguards are conducting beach searches for the man who was believed to have been angling from the beach or jetty at the Benacre sluice near Kessingland.
A sea search launched earlier was called off at around 3pm today but a beach search will continue until dark.
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency told The Evening Star that search efforts are unlikely to be resumed tomorrow.
The spokesman said if the man is not found in the next few hours there will be “very little hope” of finding him alive.
