Around 500 wild and wonderful vehicles are expected to take part in the car cruise, part of the Street Rod Nationals - Europe's largest show of Hot Rods, American and British classic cars - event being held at the Suffolk Showground over the weekend.

In all, more than 2,000 customised cars will turn the showground, now called Trinity Park, into hot rod heaven as enthusiasts get together to socialise and enjoy seeing each other's vehicles.

It is the third year the National Association of Street Clubs has held its Street Rod Nationals at the showground at Bucklesham and the chairman Mark Ashman said the event had settled well into the venue.

He said: “The weekend is a great chance for enthusiasts to meet up, enjoy the cars and have a real good get together.

“Because Europe is so close and people can bring their cars across, we get more European entries than any other show. This year some people have shipped their car over from New Zealand to take part so that will be very exciting to see.
