Man arrested on suspicion of burglary after five businesses targeted in Felixstowe

A man has been arrested in connection with five burglaries in Felixstowe – which happened at hotels and businesses over the same time period.

Detectives say they are exploring the possibility that the incidents are linked, and a 35-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of burglary has been released under investigation.

The first incident in the coastal town happened shortly before 9.20pm on Monday, August 13, at CJ’s Corner House Cafe in Undercliff Road West, where two offenders attempted to gain entry by smashing glass in a door.

The second burglary took place just after midnight on Tuesday, August 14, at the Marlborough Hotel in Sea Road, where a fire exit was forced to gain entry.

Overnight between 10pm on Monday and 1am on Tuesday, the back doors of The Bakery in Hamilton Road were forced open. Damage was caused to the doors but nothing was stolen.

Café Bencotto, in Hamilton Road, was also targeted overnight between Monday and Tuesday, where an offender was disturbed and left the scene via the back of the premises. It is believed nothing was stolen.

The fifth incident happened between 10pm on Monday and 6.25am on Tuesday at the Dolphin Hotel in Beach Station Road, where an offender forced a door to gain entry. Nothing was stolen.
