A FAMILY have been left homeless after a blaze ripped through their property this morning.
Fire crews were called to the house in Heybridge, near Maldon, at about 9am.
The roof and first floor of the property were well alight but the three people inside got out safely.
Crews using eight sets of breathing apparatus spent more than two-and-half hours bringing the blaze under control.
Staff from Maldon District Council are now working to re-home the family.
