This week the Ipswich Star is calling on readers to Ditch the Car one day a month to help reduce congestion in the town centre - particularly during the morning and evening rush hour.

You can make your pledge to Ditch the Car hereIndividually, you might be saving three or four miles a day - and that might not seem like much.

However, together you and your colleagues could make a huge impact on pollution levels and congestion. If a team of 20 workers each left their cars at home one day a month, and the average daily commute is a six-mile round trip then together you could save 120 car miles a month, reducing carbon emissions and saving you money.

If you each opted to leave the car at home twice a month, that would increase to 240 miles.

We want to see how many miles businesses within Ipswich are saving and will be running a leader board to see which companies are saving, on average based on the number of employees taking part, the most miles.

To join in, email us today and we will share a form with you which you can complete each month.
