How The King came to town

ELVIS is very much alive!

It seems rumours of his death have been greatly exaggerated as the King has turned up…in Ipswich.

Look closer and behind those glasses and underneath that mop of black hair is none other than speedway star Jeremy Doncaster, who is to perform as Mr Presley at the Axa Sports and Social Club in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care on February 9.

Here is Doncaster, 40, as you've never seen him before, when he slipped into the famous white suit to rehearse three numbers in a private session at a top-secret Ipswich location.

Gig organiser Keith Rodwell said that he was very convinced with the Witches star's take on the Las Vegas legend.

He said: "The white suit was a bit big for him, but there are two more suits for him to try before the big gig. Nevertheless, he has a glittering future ahead of him."

The 'Doncaster Elvis' performed a short living room set last night behind closed curtains, with the highlight being All Shook Up, a song he is all set to steal the show with.

Mr Rodwell added: "Once word gets around that Elvis is coming back to Ipswich tickets for the occasion will be snapped up and are sure to quickly sell out."

Despite the possibility of a new found career as the King of Rock and Roll, Doncaster clearly has left his musical options wide open as perhaps he bears more of a resemblance to Keith Richards!

The speedway star said: "I tend to agree with that!! I probably sound more like Keith Richards as well, but it's just a laugh really and it's all for charity. To be honest it's probably an insult to Elvis, but I am singing live – so the audience will be in for a bit of a surprise!"
