AMBULANCE crews in East Anglia have seen the biggest rise in emergency calls of any rural service in England it can be revealed today.New figures revealed by the Department of Health showed the extra 16,655 responses dealt with by East Anglian Ambulance Service last year, was the largest increase of any of the country's 23 rural services.

New figures revealed by the Department of Health showed the extra 16,655 responses dealt with by East Anglian Ambulance Service last year, was the largest increase of any of the country's 23 rural services.

Only the urban sprawls of London, Manchester and the West Midlands recorded a bigger rise.

Emergency responses have increased from just over 100,000 in 1998/9 to 150,800 last year.
