Human bones discovered

POLICE were called today by the Highways Department of Ipswich Borough Council after workmen found what appeared to be human bones whilst digging up a pavement in Elm Street, Ipswich.

POLICE were called today, by the Highways Department of Ipswich Borough Council after workmen found what appeared to be human bones whilst digging up a pavement in Elm Street, Ipswich.

Police are not treating this as suspicious.

The age of the bones are currently being determined by a forensic pathologist, the results of which should be through within the next few days.

Before the Police Stations was built in the 1960s it used to be the site of Ipswich Mortuary.
