Humpty Dumpty Playgroup transforms Kesgrave Community Centre field for National Den Day

Families and youngsters at the Humpty Dumpty Playgroup in Kesgrave crafted their best cosy shelters for National Den Day last week.

The playgroup, based at Kesgrave Community Centre, featured more than 20 families and dozens of children crafting dens out of cardboard, tarpaulins, canes and blankets on the community centre field, which raised £195 for Save the Children.

Among the creative designs were boxes, tipees and tent-style dens.

To help mark Father’s Day on Sunday dads were also invited to take part in activities during the week.

Wendy Payne, deputy manager at the playgroup, said: “It went so well last year we raised £130 so we thought let’s do it again, and it’s a great thing to get families together.

“They all absolutely loved it – all the parents that came just said how much fun they had and looking forward to doing it again next year.”
