Hundreds of excited people turned out to greet the Coca Cola truck in Ipswich today as it stopped off in the town as part of its Christmas tour.

The instantly recognisable red truck visited Asda on the Whitehouse industrial estate and people were able to grab a selfie as well as receive a free sample of the drink from 11am-7pm.

The truck – with Father Christmas holding two bottles of Coca Cola emblazoned on the side – also visited Ipswich last year and it is on its seventh tour of the UK.

It will make 42 stops on this year’s tour and its next stop will be Peterborough, followed by a trip north to Manchester.

The truck will finish its tour at Lakeside shopping centre in Essex on December 16 and 17.

The famous advertisement featuring the truck was first aired back in 1995, with many families seeing its first airing as a sign that Christmas is on its way.
