SUFFOLK: Hundreds of schools across the county are planning to reopen their doors this morning, after heavy snow caused closures.

Many schools were under pressure to open today to ensure that the scheduled examinations went ahead as planned.

However, the treacherous conditions have caused some schools to remain closed - while others will start the day later than planned.

Many parents had been contacting Suffolk County Council after about 70 per cent of schools closed to pupils on Thursday and Friday.

The apparent over-eagerness of headteachers to shut schools in bad weather is due to be questioned in the House of Commons today .

Planned closures and late starts

Causton Junior School - Closed.

Eleveden CEVAP School - The school will be closed but children are welcome to attend the Forest Primary School in Brandon, which will open at 9:30am.

Guildhall Feoffment CP School - Closed due to heating failure.

Woodbridge Primary School - Closed today. Volunteers armed with shovels are welcome to assist clear the snow from 9am.

Trimley St Mary Primary School - Opening at 11am.

St Felix Middle School in Newmarket - Is open today but there is no caretaker. The school is inviting volunteers to come in and help with the snowy conditions.
