A SUFFOLK hunt master has been selected as the county's new High Sheriff.
James Buckle, 44, from Semer near Hadleigh, will official take up the prestigious ceremonial role from April 1.
Originally the High Sheriffs were asked to collect money for the reigning monarch and held many of the powers now associated with the likes of High Court judges, magistrates, local authorities, coroners and the Inland Revenue.
Now their role is almost entirely ceremonial - although they are expected to attend Royal visits and provide hospitality to High Court judges out on “circuit”.
