SUFFOLK police are appealing for information after one Hollesley Bay inmate has absconded and another failed to return to the open unit.

John McDonagh, 22, who is serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence for burglary, was discovered missing from the open unit yesterday .

Robin Curren, 43, who is serving a life sentence for murder, left Hollesley at 9.30am yesterday for a visit to Ipswich and failed to return when he was due back at 6.30pm.

Mr McDonagh is described as white, about 5ft 9in and of heavy build.

He has short black hair, a black goatee beard, blue eyes and bushy eyebrows that join in the middle.

He has an Irish accent, has scars on his back, chest and hands and was wearing civilian clothing.

Mr Curren is described as white, of slight build, about 5ft 11in, was dark brown cropped hair and blue eyes.

He has connections to Ipswich, Leytonstone and Dagenham.

Police are advising anyone spotting either of these men not to approach them but to alert officers immediately using 999.
