Inquests for three Suffolk men believed to have died after taking ecstasy will resume next week.

Lithuanian nationals Justas Ropas, 22, of Bramford Lane, Ipswich, and Gediminas Kulokas, 24, of Provan Court, Ipswich, are believed to have taken a rogue batch of ecstasy known as “Superman” pills.

These contained a substance called PMMA instead of the less toxic MDMA usually found in ecstasy.

Mr Ropas, a factory worker, died on Christmas Eve last year, while Mr Kulokas, a labourer, died on New Year’s Day – his 24th birthday – this year.

Police said their cause of death has been given as p-Methoxymethamphetamine.

A third inquest will also be held into the death of John Hocking. The 21-year-old, of Pembroke Avenue, Woodbridge, is thought to have taken cocaine and MDMA Ecstasy before his death at an address in Rendlesham. Police said his cause of death was an overdose of MDMA.

The inquests will take place at Ip-City Centre in Bath Street, Ipswich at 10am on Tuesday.

An earlier inquest into the deaths opened and adjourned on January 16.

Police have since confirmed that detectives investigating the tragedies are not linking the death of Mr Hocking to those of Mr Ropas and Mr Kulokas.
