AN investigation has been launched after a Ministry of Defence laptop was stolen from a car in Colchester.

The computer was taken from a Mitsubishi parked outside the married quarters of the Aisne Road barracks.

The MoD this morning stressed that the computer did not contain confidential data and was only used for “unclassified information.”

The theft, which saw a window smashed and an Army jacket and some personal belongings also stolen, happened sometime between 6pm on Monday and 6.30am yesterday.
