A RAIL disaster was narrowly avoided tonight after a train packed with commuters collided with concrete left on the tracks by suspected vandals.
British Transport Police are now investigating the incident, which happened near Diss and involved the 5pm service from Norwich to London.
A spokesman for rail operator One said no-one had been injured but said the train driver had been left “shaken” as a result of the incident.
The service terminated at Diss while rail workers assessed the train for damage.
The incident caused minor delays and the cancellation of the 7pm and 8pm service from London to Norwich.
