POLICE bosses have been spoken to an officer and a member of staff about 'inappropriate behaviour' on police premises.

Police confirmed the two who were not on duty at the time had been formally advised regarding their conduct.

The action followed a complaint that the man and woman had been allegedly engaged in an intimate act seen by members of the public on February 29 at Aldeburgh police station in Leiston Road.

It is understood a number of people drinking in Aldeburgh's Railway Public House spotted the pair in an intimate act through a window of the police station.

A member of the public has since contacted Suffolk Constabulary to express concern about the behaviour of the members of staff involved.

Police have not received a formal complaint but the matter was subjected to an investigation.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said: "A member of the public raised concerns about the behaviour of constabulary staff at Aldeburgh Police Station on February 29 this year.

"While no formal complaint has been received this matter was thoroughly investigated.

"Neither of those involved were on duty at the time however their behaviour on police premises was considered to be inappropriate and as a result they have been formerly advised regarding their conduct."

Aldeburgh's creative shops and shingle beach attract thousands of visitors to the coastal town every year.

The town is home to some of the most expensive properties in the county, with terrace homes fetching more than £200,000.

Aldeburgh was named Cultural Village of Europe for 2003 after it was selected about four years ago to represent Britain on a cultural exchange initiative involving 12 European countries.

The town is best known as the home of composer Benjamin Britten and the world-renowned Aldeburgh Festival.
