A young man has been ordered to pay more than £300 by Ipswich magistrates after being caught with a tablet of ecstasy and failing to attend a drug assessment appointment.
Harry Lomax, of Morgan Drive, Ipswich, admitted possessing an MDMA tablet on March 31, and missing the assessment on April 5.
Prosecutor Lesla Small said police had carried out a drug raid at the premises in Morgan Drive where the 21-year-old had been living. Lomax was in the hallway. When he was searched the tablet was found in a clear bag in his pocket.
After his arrest Lomax tested positive for having Class A drugs in his system. Lomax was then required to keep an appointment with the substance misuse organisation Turning Point, but did not do so.
Magistrates fined him £120 for possessing the ecstasy tablet and a further £80 for missing the assessment. He must also pay £85 costs and £30 to the victims’ fund.
