A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old was shot in Ipswich has been released on bail.

The 28-year-old man from Ipswich was detained by firearms officers at an address in Magpie Road, Norwich, on Saturday afternoon and questioned by detectives over the shooting at Siloam Place, early last Tuesday.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary today said the suspect has been released on bail until February 23, pending further enquiries.

Police were alerted just after 12.20am on Tuesday to reports of a loud noise at a flat in Siloam Place, near Duke Street.

A few minutes later police received a call from the ambulance service reporting someone had been attacked there and had injuries to his upper arms.

Officers attended, however no one was found at the property.

At around 1.20am police took a further call reporting an 18-year-old man, believed to be from the London area, had arrived at Ipswich Hospital just before 1am with a suspected gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Four men arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Tuesday were released on police bail on Wednesday to return to Martlesham Investigation Centre on February 21 while inquiries continue.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything in the Siloam Place area of Ipswich on Monday evening or into the early hours of Tuesday to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD number 17 of Tuesday, November 22, or via Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
