IPSWICH pop and indie band Rosalita are to support legendary duo the Sparks at a London concert, it was announced today.
The four strong band, which opened last year's V festival and have undertaken their first UK tour this year, will support Sparks on Saturday at Islington's Carling Academy,
Keyboards player Ben Groom said: “We are really excited about supporting them. They are a legendary band and have produced some great songs.
“It is rare to find a band where the focus is on the keyboards player and Ron Mael is an iconic performer. They are a band that have been around for a long time and I remember watching them on top of the pops when I was younger.
Ben said the band is currently resting after a two month UK wide tour.
He added: “We are having a couple of weeks off at the moment. Our next single is What Would Your Mother Say? which is officially being released on June 9.”
In February pioneering Sparks siblings Ron and Russell Mael offered fans the chance to support them at their record breaking run of 21 shows in 21 nights.
A spokesman for the duo said: “Artists wishing to support Sparks were then invited to submit a live performance video via Youtube.
“The response to this, as you can imagine, was massive and some of those now confirmed to support the brothers are The Young Knives, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, The Rumble Strips, Electric Soft Parade and Rosalita.”
