Ipswich Borough Council is resuming bin collections today – but the icy conditions will limit services.

A council spokesman said: “We are aiming to pick up as many black and brown bins as we can, but many roads in residential areas are icy and we do ask residents to be patient.

“Our crews will assess each road to see if the lorries can access them safely. Please leave your bins, and any bagged up black bin waste, out and we will pick them up as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Parks were opened as normal this morning and council staff will be out hand-gritting parts of the town centre.

The spokesman added: “Temperatures are likely to remain extremely low all day and high winds are forecast. We urge people to take extra care when they are out and about.”

We will have an update on our sports facilities shortly.
