Police in Ipswich have reported a busy morning tackling anti-social behaviour involving an “element of our homeless community” accused of “urinating and defecating in public”.

Suffolk Constabulary’s Ipswich Central Twitter account reported the incident this morning.

It said such behaviour was “totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated”.

The force said it happened in the Princes Street area of Ipswich.

Officers tweeted later to say a number of homeless people in the town centre had been given “suotable advice regardign their general behaviour”.

Last week, in an unrelated incident, a man appeared in court for defecating on the floor of an Ipswich church.

CCTV caught Carl Horth in the act of soiling the floor of Saint Mary at the Elms church.

The 31-year-old had already been recorded stealing an altar cloth from the same church.
