Inspire Suffolk has teamed up with Ipswich School of Dancing to train 10 local amateur dancers in preparation for a Strictly Come Dancing-style fundraising event in July.

Training for the dancers starts this week at Inspire Suffolk’s base in Lindbergh Road, Ipswich.

Each year the charity hosts the event in the style of the BBC’s show Strictly Come Dancing. Ipswich School of Dancing has given its time and 10 dancers to train the participants who have limited or no dance experience.

Five men and five women will be taking part in the event, all raising funds for the education and sports programmes run by Inspire Suffolk for young people across the county.

Over the next 10 weeks they will rehearse two dances to perform in front of celebrity judges at the grand finale event.

Inspire Suffolk chief executive Terry Baxter said: “Our Strictly Come Dancing event is always a very enjoyable evening.

“We are very grateful to the generosity of Ipswich School of Dancing giving up their dancers’ time to prepare our participants for their big finale.

“Without their support, along with many other local businesses that are sponsoring and donating to the event, we would not be able to host such great fundraising events”

Emma Hawling from Ipswich School of Dancing said: “We’re pleased to be part of this fantastic event!

“The volunteers will be in the safe hands of our skilled dancers and we look forward to working with Inspire Suffolk once more. ”
