A man has been charged with the attempted robbery of a convenience store in Ipswich and possessing a bladed article, police have said.
Lee Lawther, of James Street, Colchester, appeared at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with the offences.
The 22-year-old handed himself in at the Martlesham police investigation centre on Monday after a shop worker at a convenience store in Bramford Road was threatened for cash with a knife.
The incident took place on Thursday, May 1.
Lawther was arrested and charged by police with the attempted robbery of a convenience store and possessing a bladed article on Monday after handing himself in. He was also charged with theft in a dwelling after a gold ring was stolen during an incident in Weaver Close.
Lawther is set to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on May 15 after he appeared before magistrates in Ipswich on Tuesday.
