Ipswich Council is asking local people which buildings in the town they feel should be given extra protection with a local listing.
Major heritage buildings like the Ancient House, Christchurch Mansion, and the Willis building have national listing – but individual councils have their own local list of buildings with a special merit.
In Ipswich this listis updated every three years and the next review is in 2019. So, now is the time for the public to have a say.
You can find the current list at here: www.ipswich.gov.uk/local-list-community-nominations and submit your ideas for consideration by the end of May next year.
To be eligible, a building must be of local significance and have heritage value or a link with a notable person or event. Current entries include industrial buildings, hospitals, houses, bridges, war memorials, telephone boxes, churches, schools and pubs, dating from the 18th Century to the 1970s.
