Workers from Ipswich Council have given the Bramford Lane recreation ground a big clean-up after a group of travellers left the site on Monday evening.
They had moved on to the land on Thursday evening after leaving the West End Road car park where they had arrived the previous day.
A spokesman for the borough said a team from the council had removed large pieces of rubbish from the area on Monday evening and had returned on Tuesday morning to give it a deep clean and ensure nothing hazardous had been left.
The entrance to the recreation ground had been forced – and the travellers had broken into the closed public toilets on the site.
These had been repaired and the council spokesman said the area was now clear and should be open for normal public use.
The travellers had left before the council had to enforce legal measures that it was pursuing to get them to move on.
