The driver of a car owned by Ipswich Borough Council has been caught on camera parking on double yellow lines.

The council worker, who accepts he should not have stopped there, was in Gatacre Road yesterday responding to reports of an abandoned car.

He was caught by a member of the public at around 3pm who took the above picture of the waste enforcement vehicle, which was illegally parked at the time.

Double yellow lines indicate to drivers that no parking or waiting is allowed at any time – unless you have a blue disabled badge.

Council bosses said the driver has been reminded that he must adhere to traffic and parking regulations at all times.

A spokesman said: “We have spoken to the driver and he accepts he should not have stopped there even though he was on site to deal with reports of an abandoned car in Gatacre Road and didn’t leave his vehicle.

“We remind our staff that they must adhere to traffic and parking regulations at all times.”
