Ipswich disqualified driver was caught in uninsured Vauxhall Vectra he bought two days earlier
A disqualified driver has been given a suspended prison sentence after he was caught driving an uninsured car he had bought two days earlier.
Simbad Alexandru, of Hyperion Court, Ipswich, admitted driving while disqualified and having no insurance on May 21 when he appeared before Ipswich magistrates.
Prosecutor Colette Harper said the 20-year-old was banned from driving for a year on November 7 last year after being convicted of driving without due care and attention, having no insurance and failing to stop.
Police saw Alexandru at 3pm on May 21 in Geneva Road, Ipswich. His car Vauxhall Vectra showed up as having no insurance.
He told officers he had bought the car two days earlier, but had not had time to insure it.
The factory worker was given an eight-week prison term, suspended for two years. He must also undertake 240 hours’ unpaid work.
Alexandru was banned from driving for 12 months and must pay £200 in costs and a surcharge.
