Mayor of Ipswich Roger Fern conducted the ceremony at Tidemill Yacht Harbour in Woodbridge for Ipswich Dive Club (iDive).

The club was founded in 1956 by Ray Marshall, 91, who was at the event to witness one of the boats being named RayM.

A second boat was named BobK in honour of Bob Kessler, who kicked off the club’s anniversary celebrations on his 80th birthday in January with a 60 minute dive. Mr Kessler died in May.

Mr Fern said he was delighted to help iDive mark its 60th anniversary.

He added: “iDive has a proud history of working in the community and has trained thousands of divers.”
