A DRINK-driver has been banned from the road after crashing into two parked cars while going out to buy dog food.

Tina Harris, of Chapel Field, Bramford, admitted drink-driving, careless driving and failing to stop after an accident, when she appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Wayne Ablett said police were called to a crash in Bramford Road at 8.30pm on January 31.

Harris was in the driver’s seat of her Rover 400 about half-a-mile away from the accident.

The 43-year-old told police she had been involved in the crash.

A breath test showed she had 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

The court heard a witness had seen Harris’ vehicle swerving and colliding with a parked car, pushing it forward into another vehicle.

Harris then drove away pursued by the witness who managed to pull in front of her Rover in his car and stop her.

The court was told Harris said she had consumed a few cans of lager before discovering she had run out of dog food.

The Co-op store was within walking distance had closed and Harris decided to drive to Tesco.

While on her way there she misjudged the distance between her car and the Renault Megane and Vauxhall Corsa which were damaged in the collision.

Harris claimed she had not stopped at the scene because she would have been in the middle of the road.

Referring to the mother-of-three drink-driving District Judge Celia Dawson said: “It was a complete lack of judgment on your part that you got into a car and drove.

“You weren’t capable of driving at that point, and you were a danger to other road users because you had an accident.”

Harris was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined £200. She was also ordered to pay £85 and a £20 to the victims’ fund.
