It’s not a mystery why Scooby-Doo The Mystery Of The Pyramid actress Eleanor O’Grady is looking forward to bringing the show to the Ipswich Regent this week.
Attending ballet classes at DanceEast and attending the Angela Rowe School of Dance when she was younger, her family still live in the town.
“I remember going to the Regent and seeing the ballet at the Corn Exchange... I’d started dancing already but when I saw those professional shows I thought ‘I want to do what they do’. When you see shows like that in your home town it’s special and definitely inspiring,” said O’Grady, who plays Mira in the show.
Transported to ancient Egypt, Scooby the meddling kids Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Fred face danger while trying to uncover the mystery of Pharaoh Hatchepsout’s pyramid.
“Mira’s met the gang in the desert and helps them discover the mystery - and I won’t say anymore than that” she laughed.
“It’s a big, spectacular, family show good for kids of all ages. It really was a pleasure to work it and make sure it’s classic Scooby Doo. We were so surprised when we all put our costumes on and saw each other for the first time, it’s really like we stepped out of the cartoon, it’s amazing.”
“We had one family arrive in their own Mystery Machine, the parents were just massive fans. We had one mum who was she came dressed as Velma; there are a lot of adults who really love it as well having watched the cartoon when they were younger.”
Packed with audience participation, singing, dancing, comedy and more, the family show runs from June 27-29.
