Ipswich: Excitement building ahead of Prince Harry’s visit to Ipswich today

Excitement is building today as Ipswich prepares to welcome a very special royal guest.

Prince Harry will be visiting charity Inspire Suffolk which is now based at the old Holywells High School site in Lindbergh Road, before heading off to enjoy the second day of the Suffolk Show at Trinity Park.
The first day of the agricultural extravaganza got off to a great start yesterday, and Show director Bill Baker is hoping thousands more visitors flood through the gates today.
“It’s been perfect Suffolk Show weather, despite there being no sun,” he said. “And With Prince Harry coming, everyone is very excited. It will be a great honour for us and the county.”
Inspire Suffolk, which aims to improve the lives of young people through education and sport, is scheduled to be the first stop of the tour for Harry, who was based at Wattisham Airfield during his Apache helicopter training.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Inspire Suffolk CEO, Terry Baxter, said: “I am both delighted and honoured that HRH Prince Harry will visit our new home, to witness elements of the valuable work we undertake with Suffolk’s young people.
“Although we have operated as a charity in the county for over 10 years, we are just six months on from a re-brand and relocation of our base.

“I have no doubt that the visit by His Royal Highness will provide further motivation for everyone involved with our charity to continue to use sport to motivate, engage, educate and inspire Suffolk’s young people who are in need.”
Harry is then scheduled to make the short trip to Trinity Park to experience the second day of the county’s agricultural showpiece.
The first day of the event went ahead despite downpours overnight on Monday and throughout Tuesday, and people were treated to an array of stalls, animal displays and exhibitions.
Thousands of people heeded the call of organisers to bring along their wellies to enjoy the show, making the first day a great success.
