Motorists travelling on the A12 near Ipswich faced a series of delays on Wednesday afternoon when a car caught fire on the London-bound carriageway of the busy road.
Two crews from Princes Street and Suffolk police were sent to the incident, near the Copdock Interchange, when it was reported just before 4.45pm.
There were reports of slow traffic on the road as firefighters used one hose reel to bring the fire under control.
It was extinguished at about 5.25pm.
