A FORMER Ipswich Town favourite is calling on the people of Suffolk to throw their support behind a hospice’s biggest charity fundraiser.
St Elizabeth Hospice’s Midnight Walk has already attracted 500 people to this year’s event.
And now ex-Blues captain Matt Holland is encouraging men and woman to sign up for the walk, which sets off from Portman Road on May 18.
It is the first time the walk has been open to men.
The former Town and Republic of Ireland midfielder, pictured, said: “St Elizabeth Hospice does an incredible job to provide care for those with a progressive illness, as well as supporting their friends and family.
“Fundraising events such as the Midnight Walk are really important in helping fund the hospice’s work, which is why I’m delighted to back this year’s Midnight Walk, especially as for the first time the event is open to men as well as women.
“I would like to encourage as many groups of men, women and families to sign up to take part and help support the fantastic work of the hospice. Help make this the most successful Midnight Walk yet.”

Leanne Carhart, of St Elizabeth Hospice, who is organising the Midnight Walk, said: “I’m delighted that the Midnight Walk has received this level of support, and I really hope that anybody considering registering is inspired to do so.
“It is fantastic to have 500 people now signed up to take part – Saturday 18th May is looking set to be a brilliant night out for men as well as women, so please join us.”
Many people take part in groups as a fitness challenge, in memory of a loved one or just to have a fun night out. All participants are asked to raise sponsorship.
Registration costs just £15.
