TICKETS are now on sale for a family charity ball to help pay for a life-changing operation for Brooke Lawrance.

It is hoped hundreds of pounds will be raised at Brooke’s Children’s Charity Ball next month to help Brooke’s dreams come true.

Six-year-old Brooke was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and has had to use a wheelchair ever since.

Her parents Sarah and Peter Lawrance, of Morland Road, Ipswich, embarked on the Brooke’s Wish To Walk appeal fundraising mission last October to pay for a 70,000 operation.

They have so far raised around 24,000 for the selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation which will be carried out at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri, America.

Mum-of-four Mrs Lawrance said: “We have 150 tickets but have only sold 12 so far which is a bit disappointing.

“We wanted to organise a family-friendly fundraiser to get the children involved so this event is all about the kids.”

The ball will be held at Henley Community Centre in Church Meadows on Saturday, July 7, from 5pm to 9pm.

Youngsters are being encouraged to dress up in fancy dress costumes with prizes for the best dressed boy and girl.

There will also be face-painting, nail painting, disco, a grand draw and barbecue as well as a visit from beauty queen Miss Galaxy England.

Mrs Lawrance added: “We’re hoping to raise between 700 and 1,000 to add to our fund pot.”

Previous fundraising events have included a skydive and donations from family, friends and complete strangers moved by her plight, while upcoming events include an event in September with footballing greats Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Kevin Beattie and comedian Jimmy Jones.

Tickets cost 5 for adults and children from sarah.lawrance1@btinternet.com
