THE NHS in Ipswich is to be featured on national television today .

A film crew visited Ipswich Hospital earlier this week and will also be beaming a live broadcast from Heath Road at 7.30pm this evening.

The show will follow a day in the life of consultant physician Dr Nicky Trepte, and feature how staff care for the elderly.

It will be part of a wide-ranging look at the health service, called Your NHS, to be shown throughout the day on BBC1.

The series of programmes will include live broadcasts from hospitals across the country, a debate, and a search for the nation's health service heroes.

The evening programme presented by Nicky Campbell and Fiona Bruce will give patients and professionals a chance to tell their stories, and express views on the future of the NHS.

There will also be a vote about what the priorities should be for politicians and health professionals, and Peter Snow will announce the results.

Radio Suffolk will also be broadcasting from the hospital, running a vote for an NHS hero and following cleaning staff round the wards.
