It will not just be names being dragged through the mud tomorrow as eight teams from Ipswich Hospital prepare to go the Whole Hog.

Each team, led by a consultant or doctor, will be taking part in the Whole Hog team event in Wantisden Valley.

Those taking part include Dr Debo Ademokun, Dr Tracy Murphy, Dr Ram Venkitaraman and Dr Isobel Chalmers from the Heath Road site.

The teams will have to run 10km, wade through water, navigate deep, muddy bogs and overcome obstacles as part of the gruelling challenge.

Members of the haematol- oncology department and laboratory are dragging themselves through the tough challenge in aid of the hospital’s Woolverstone Wish Foundation and they are hoping to raise around £500.

The fund aims to raise £800,000 to refurbish the chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital to increase space, improve privacy for patients and provide a more comfortable treatment area.

To date, more than £538,000 has been raised. As well as fundraising, the teams are competing against each other, and Dr Ademokun’s team are said to be the favourites.
