An Ipswich man has appeared in court accused of making nearly 50,000 indecent images of children.
Joseph Caddick, of Park Road, did not enter a plea to any of the six charges he is accused of when he appeared before the town’s magistrates.
The 36-year-old is charged with distributing an indecent image of a child via a What’s App message on May 10 last year.
Caddick is also accused of making 5,633 Category A indecent images and movies between May 1 and May 10 last year. Category A is the most serious grading on the scale of child pornography.
In addition he faces two similar charges relating to 11,212 Category B images and movies and 31,363 Category C images and movies. Category C is the least serious grading.
The two other charges Caddick is facing involving possession of cannabis and producing cannabis.
Caddick’s case was sent to Ipswich Crown Court for May 9. He was released on conditional bail.
