A man is due before magistrates tomorrow charged with assaulting someone with a hammer during an aggravated burglary.

Patrick Gallogly, 42, was arrested in Ipswich yesterday following reports of a burglary in Burrell Road, Ipswich, at 2,30am on Tuesday.

A man in his 50s who was in the property at the time was reportedly assaulted with a hammer.

He was taken to hospital by paramedics and treated for head injuries before being discharged later that day.

Gallogly, an unemployed 42-year-old man from Burrell Road, has been detained in police custody before tomorrow’s appearance at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court charged with aggravated burglary.
