A man has been ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to a police officer he assaulted during an early morning incident in Ipswich town centre.
Mohamed Feghoul, 39, from Gippeswyk Road, was arrested on Sunday May 11 following an incident in Tower Street at around 12:15am.
During the incident an officer received facial injuries.
Mr Feghoul was later charged with assaulting a police officer and appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday May 28 where he pleaded guilty to the offence and received a community order for 12 months, 120 hours of unpaid work and has to pay £85 court costs and £1,000 compensation to the officer he assaulted.
