A man suffered a broken jaw after being knocked unconscious during a confrontation between two groups after they left an illegal rave in Ipswich, it has been alleged.
Jack Pugh had gone to the event at the Earl Kitchener Pub in Hadleigh Road on September 23, 2012, with friends.
His alleged attacker Nicholas Salisbury had also been there with some of his friends, Ipswich Crown Court heard. As they left the event there was a confrontation and Mr Pugh was seen to swing a punch at Salisbury who then allegedly launched a “violent attack” on Mr Pugh during which he kicked him in the face, said Jamie Sawyer, prosecuting.
As a result of the alleged attack Mr Pugh suffered a facial cut and a broken jaw which required surgery to insert a metal plate and wires. Salisbury, 26, of Canterbury Close, Ipswich, has denied unlawfully wounding Mr Pugh.
The court heard that after his arrest Salisbury admitted attacking Mr Pugh but said he was acting in self-defence.
The court was told that Mr Pugh had no recollection of the alleged incident. The trial continues today.
