Four white collar workers will be swapping their suits for boxing gloves as they take to the ring for a showdown in Ipswich which will raise funds for good causes.

Trouble in Town, organised by Matt Brennan, of Grange Fitness and Performance Centre in Martlesham, will see a selection of seasoned boxers battling it out while there will also be bouts involving first-time fighters, who will have the chance to put their training to the test.

The spectacle, which will take place at Liquid Nightclub in Ipswich, has been billed as a ‘white-collar novice boxer event’ and Mr Brennan, who also runs his own boxing club, thought it would be ideal for his non-boxing clients.

He said: “Many of my members are very fit thanks to Crossfit and personal training sessions but have never stepped into the ring.

“I thought this was a great chance to get them hooked on the sport of boxing and they have really stepped up to the mark.

“Despite being fit, they have found the intensive training really tough, but they are now all in great shape.”

The first-time fighters taking part in the event are Rob Juby 34, sponsored by DPS Technology in Ipswich, Tim Green, 31, managing director of Go Team Up in Ipswich, Nick Evans, 41, of Streamline, East Anglia and Gavin Moss, 39, from LIT Haulage.

Each boxer is raising funds through the fight for causes including East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, Families in Need, the Alzheimer’s Society and Cruse Bereavement Care.

Tickets for Trouble in Town, which takes place on Saturday, June 7, are on sale now.

The first fight will begin at 5pm and tickets, which cost £25, can be bought by visiting www.suffolkpunchboxingclub.co.uk or calling 01473 623277.
