Ipswich MP Ben Gummer has been appointed new junior health minister in the latest round of ministerial appointments by the Prime Minister.
Mr Gummer will be taking on a similar job to that carried out by his neighbouring MP Dr Dan Poulter in the last government.
Dr Poulter, MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, has chosen to leave the government and will return to the backbenchers and will be increasing his part-time medical work.
Mr Gummer will be working under Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt whom he showed around Ipswich Hospital during the election campaign.
He has a long record of working on the politics of health – he was a key figure in the battle to bring improved heart services to Ipswich Hospital.
